With around 69% of the total working population involved in agriculture but has contributed to less than a quarter of the national GDP, agriculture has been one of the most underlooked sectors of Nepali Development that require urgent and impactful intervention. Despite the huge local and international demand, Nepali agri-sector fails to achieve its potential productivity due to some reasons such as low usage of technology and agri-inputs; fragmented land-holdings; lack of skilled manpower; inefficient value chains and low degree of value-addition or processing; infrastructure and terrain-related challenges; and political risk.

Annually Nepal produces more than 1100 Agriculture Undergraduates and around 3500 Technical Assistants as agri-professionals through various streams, yet any significant changes in the contemporary cultivation pattern and agri-value chain are yet to be demonstrated. Due to poor distribution of Information and numerous failed Extension Programs, a huge gap exists in the transfer of technology from research plots to farmer's field. Hence even the skilled human personnel are reluctant to establish their own agri-enterprise due to these various reasons.

Realizing the potential and noting of the shortcomings, Geokrishi Leadership Program is an intensive 12-month program where agriculture students and aspirants are engaged in a series of learning, sharing and experimenting activities to expand their horizon of Agriculture Extension, nurture their entrepreneurial growth, and empower local farmers by promoting new agricultural tools and technology. The participants will be engaged in a number of on-farm interaction with farmers in their own community and share and collect information in the most efficient manner. The program aims to boost field exposure for individuals and expand their understanding of the Extension practices and possible innovation.

The entire program comprises 4 stages, where only a finite participant will be qualified to move ahead in higher tiers. Participants will get an opportunity to propose, plan, and execute their initiatives to support the local farming system whilst also receive a series of workshops, training, and constant mentorship. They will be required to share information about various ICT Practices in Agriculture and motivate farmers to adopt them. Successful candidates will be provided with training on all aspects of successful agri-business establishment through our idea bank. They will be supported by financial literacy and access to various investors.

If you are an agri-enthusiast, recently graduated or currently in your near-final terms and you want to bridge the gap between farmers and technology whilst also initiate your own agribusiness in near future, this program is exactly for you.

We are looking for highly motivated, qualified, and interested candidates to fill in the Google Form with high efforts.
